Schlanker Funeral Home has been a part of the history of Montgomery County for over six decades. Following his service in the United States Army during World War II, E. Boone Schlanker returned to his hometown of Montgomery City, and together with his wife, Mildred (Dee), they established the family-owned business in Montgomery City in 1946. Bob Schlanker joined the family business in 1972, following his graduation from Drury University in Springfield, MO, and later John Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN.

Carol Mills joined the funeral home staff in March of 2000. She was raised in Montgomery County and is familiar with people throughout the area. She is a licensed funeral director and is a Certified Preplanning Consultant. The Schlanker Funeral Home provides at-need funeral planning and prearranged funeral planning to individuals and families. Carol Mills is a licensed insurance agent and can provide insurance products that offer several means of financial protection for those who are considering advance planning.

The Schlanker Funeral Home is located at 207 Danville Rd. in Montgomery City. The facility was built in 1967; an addition was completed in 1995. Since that time, a kitchen was added to the lounge area of the funeral home; the parking lot has been expanded, and additional exterior lighting and landscaping have been completed. The Schlanker Funeral Home also represents Capitol Monuments, Inc., of Jefferson City. This allows them to assist those who desire to purchase grave markers or similar products.

The staff of the funeral home has always been active in taking a leadership role in civic and community activities. The Schlanker Funeral Home staff has appreciated its role in service to Montgomery County and the surrounding area and looks forward to continuing that relationship for many years to come.
