William Meyers, 98, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, MO.

William Wilson Meyers was born July 5, 1918 in Cairo, IL to William Layton Meyers and Maude Van Della. He married Helen Doris Craven on May 23, 1937 and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2011. Together they enjoyed over 73 years of a wonderful marriage. Mr. Meyers was employed by Binkley Manufacturing as a Turret Lathe operator for over 18 years. He was a member of the Bellflower Baptist Church where he served in several positions and then transferred his membership to the Wellsville Baptist Church after moving to Montgomery City. He was also a licensed minister. He enjoyed gardening, mowing, woodworking, hunting, fishing, and doing anything outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Meyers is survived by his children: William Richard Meyers and wife, Susan, of Wellsville, MO; Jackie Eugene Meyers and wife, Dorothy of Montgomery City, MO; Carl Edward Meyers and wife, Kay, of Maryville, Tennessee; Phyllis Jean Oliver of Montgomery City, MO; Brenda Kay Baugh and husband, Terry, of Montgomery City, MO; and Carolyn June Hasty and husband, Kenneth, of Montgomery City, MO; and daughter-in-law, Carol Sue Meyers of Warrenton, MO. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Meyers was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Doris Craven Meyers; two sons: Willie Junior Meyers and Harold Joe Meyers; one daughter, Shirley Ann Holmes; son-in-law, Gary Oliver and Fred Holmes; two grandsons: Jared and Stephen Sales; three great-grandsons, Michael Hurd, William Holmes II, and Adam Beabout; and two sisters: Thelma and Evelyn.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Assembly of God Church in Montgomery City, MO. Interment with full military honors was in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, North of Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Friday from Noon until the time of service at the Church. Casketbearers included Kevin Meyers, Bill Holmes, Eddie Meyers, Donnie Meyers, Tim Meyers and Colby Parrish.
