Virgil Ralph Barnes Jr., 55, of New Florence, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at his home of a heart attack.

Ralph was born March 5, 1963 in Mexico Missouri to the late Virgil Ralph Barnes Sr. and Linda Kay (Gilbert) Barnes

Ralph lived in New Florence all of his life. He graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1981. He never married but did have two sons. He worked for the City of Hermann as a Gas Operator. He was well known in his community and well liked. He was known as a man of few words. He had a large infectious smile.   He was a warm and generous person who would help anyone that needed it. He loved the loyalty of animals, the purity of children and the beauty of nature. He had a strong faith in god and believed he was there for us. He was a creative and talented artist. If something was broken he could fix it and make it beautiful. He was a carpenter, mechanic, landscaper, avid collector and good friend.

Ralph is survived by his mother Linda Kay Barnes; sons Virgil Ray Barnes and Adam Jay Barnes; sister J.J. Barnes; half-sisters Patty Camp and Sue Deeker

Ralph was preceded in death by his father Virgil Ralph Barnes Sr. and his half-brother Rodney Dean Barnes.

Ralph was a kind soul, loved by his friends and family, and will be greatly missed by all.

Ralph was cremated at his request. Visitation for friends and family was held 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City.
