Vernon Reynolds, 79, of High Hill, MO, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

Vernon David Reynolds was born September 14, 1939 in Chamois, Missouri into the home of Tillie Belle and Hugh Edward Reynolds. He graduated from Chamois High School and the University of Missouri at Columbia. He taught math and science for 30 years. His early career started at Francis Howell High School in St. Charles but most of his teaching was at Montgomery County R-II until his retirement in 1991.

He married his college sweetheart on December 26, 1961 in the St. Suzanne Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Missouri.

After retirement he worked raising bees and selling honey. He loved animals and always had a small 'zoo' in the backyard. His lifelong hobby was coin collecting.

Vernon is survived by his wife Goldie of the home. He is also survived by his three children: Beverly Lynn Dicus and her husband Scott of Jonesburg, Sharyn Ann Lemmons and her husband Eric of St. Charles, and James Hugh Reynolds and his wife Susan of Columbia, one grandson, Jordan Reynolds of Atlanta, Georgia and three granddaughters: Jessica Vandeford of High Hill, Emily Reynolds of Columbia, and Audrey Lemmons of St. Charles.

Vernon was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone he knew. He enjoyed his grandkids and they all loved him immensely.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Hugh.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 11 from 5pm to 7pm at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. Funeral mass was held at 10am on Friday, July 12 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jonesburg. Father Augustine Okoli officiated and interment was in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in High Hill.

Pallbearers were Jordan Reynolds, Jessica Vandeford, Emily Reynolds, Audrey Lemmons, Scott Dicus and Eric Lemmons.
