Ute Elisabeth McQuie 93, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 after an extended illness.

She was born on April 10, 1932 in Schleswig, Germany, the fourth of nine children. At age 18 she traveled to London, England to become a nanny for a family there. She would later come to America and work as a nanny for a family in St. Louis. In 1954 she earned her license in practical nursing. She worked at St. Anthony's Hospital, and also started working at Missouri School For The Blind, where she met Robert (Bob) McQuie. They married on August 18, 1956. They were married for 59 years until his death on November 17, 2015. Ute made her home with Bob in St. Louis and they raised three daughters. Mom was active in the St.Louis Christian Science churches. She served as an usher and was on their local board. While raising a family Ute also worked in the cafeteria at Roosevelt High School, in retail, and as a front desk manager for Jackson Arms Apartments. She and Bob were active square dancers for many years. She was a person of unwavering faith and devotion to her family. She also made countless friends over the years, and will be dearly remembered by so many. Ute is survived by her three daughters, Cecelia Stevenson (husband Paul), Rita Polatin (husband David) and Christine McQuie. Also surviving are her three grandchildren Gios Gregory, Dorothy Polatin-Puopolo (husband Tim), and Seymour Polatin. She has a great-grandson Elijah Polatin-Puopolo. She has a brother living in St.Louis , Helge Puchalla (wife Christine) and a sister living in Germany, Edelgard von Allwoerden.

A Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, Missouri, on Saturday, October 4th. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11: 00 am. Interment will follow at the Montgomery City Cemetery.
