Thomas John Walker, 38, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Sunday, August 22, 2021, the result of a drowning accident in Lake Michigan. Mr. Walker was hailed a hero after saving the lives of two children.
Thomas John Walker was born June 1, 1983 in Mexico, MO, to James Roger Walker and Bonnie Bohannon Walker. Thomas was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Montgomery City, had worked for Brookstone in Mexico, MO, and currently worked at Fair Market in Montgomery City, MO. Thomas enjoyed going to concerts and loved visiting with all his family and friends, was great with children and will be dearly missed.
Thomas John Walker is survived by his parents, James Roger Walker and Bonnie Bohannon Walker of Montgomery City, MO; siblings: Wayne Walker and fiancé, Kim, of Martinsburg, MO; David Walker of Wellsville, MO; Nancy Burle and husband, Nicholas, of Byron, IL; and Kevin Ray Walker of Montgomery City, MO. Also surviving are his aunts Geri Swartz, Kathi Munoz (Bobby) Kathy and (Bill) Rhymer; cousins Paul Rhymer, and numerous other cousins; his nieces and nephews: Rilea, Skylar, Landon, Rees, and Drew; and many friends.
Thomas John Walker was preceded in death by his grandparents and one nephew, Tyler Joe Walker.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 30, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO. Father Philip Kane will officiate and interment will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. A Rosary will be held at 3:30 PM (anyone is welcome) on Sunday with visitation following from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
Casket bearers include Wayne, David, and Kevin Walker, Nicholas Burle, Jack Garrett, Jonathon Delozier, Justin Talley, and Mike Ridenour.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Immaculate Conception Church, the Immaculate Conception School, to the Charity of One's Choice, or contribute to funeral costs, c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.
