Thomas William Hays, 74, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.

Thomas was born on January 27, 1946 in Montgomery County, MO, to Charles Hays and Elsie Lucille Windsor Hays. He married Tammy Heaston on June 30, 1989 in Callaway County and have been married for over 31 wonderful years. Thomas was a city worker for the City of Wellsville until he retired in 2001. He loved sitting on his porch and watching the cars go by and visiting with the friends that stopped by. He never met a stranger and will be dearly missed.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Tammy Heaston Hays of Montgomery City, MO; two daughters: Gail Davis and husband, Corey, of Mexico, MO; and DeLisa Totton and husband, Tom, of Wellsville, MO; one son, Thomas Kemp and wife, Lindsay, of Montgomery City, MO; and grandchildren: Corey Andrew Davis of Mexico, MO; Ruby Totton, of Wellsville, MO; Caitlin Kemp of Montgomery City, MO; Hannah Kemp of Montgomery City, MO; and Justin Kemp of Montgomery City, MO. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters: David Hays of Fulton, MO; Gracie Dingledine of Jefferson City, MO; Ruth Andersen of Montgomery City, MO; Jo Ann Maddux of Mexico, MO; and Darlene Cowles of Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elsie Hays; his special daughter, Mona and his brothers and sisters: Bobby, Jim, Charles, Morris, Alma Lou, Mary, Helen, Violet and Martha.

Graveside services will be held at NOON on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Jacob Meyer will officiate and interment in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.   Casketbearers will be James Wickers, Dale Dingledine, Gale Dingledine, Mike Benney, Johnny Dingledine, Dewayne Shelton and Mike Drew. Honorary casketbearers include Corey Andrew Davis and Justin Thomas David Kemp.
