Sue Owens Tate, 78, of Montgomery City, MO died on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at SSM St. Joseph's Hospital at Lake St. Louis, MO, surrounded by family.

Martha Sue Tate was born on November 19, 1942 in Franklin, TN, to Howard W. Waller and Nellie Petty Waller.  She graduated from Hillsboro High School and was married to Thomas Owens and to this Union five children were born. He preceded her in death in 1983.  Later she married Dean Tate on October 23, 1999 in Montgomery City, MO, and were married for over 21 wonderful years.  Sue ran Owens Boarding Home in Montgomery City for over 16 years and later worked in different restaurants as a waitress.  In her earlier years she attended Franklin Baptist Church and later has attended the Mineola Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Montgomery City.  Sue was a hard worker, enjoyed reading and was an avid Yard Sale customer.  Most of all she loved spending time will all of her family.

Sue is survived by her husband, Dean Tate of Montgomery City; her children:  Doug Owens and Shanann Clampitt of Mexico; Mike Owens of Montgomery City; Sandy Barr and husband, Glen, of Montgomery City; and Sheila Huff and Joe Brinegar of Montgomery City, Deana Hale and husband, Kenneth of Montgomery City; and Michael Clayton Tate and wife, Lori of Montgomery City.  Also surviving are her grandchildren:  Josh, Heather Byers and husband, Jon, Jacob, Maddie, Aryanna, Christine, Kenna, Jesse, Khole, AJ and Gage; and her great-grandchildren: Hunter, Sadie, Lily, Sophie, Colton, and Cohen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Howard W. and Nellie Petty Waller; husband, Thomas Owens; son, Phil Owens; brothers and sisters:  Willis Waller, Marion Waller, James Waller, Dot Tyler, Pauline McLane, Liz Connor, Margaret Smith and Louise Hunt.

Sue will be cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from Noon until 2:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
