Stephen Knutson Lewis, 54, of rural Montgomery City, MO, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO.

Stephen Knutson Lewis was born September 12, 1962 in St. Charles, MO, to Jerry Olin Lewis and Emily Mae Knutson Lewis. He graduated from St. Charles High School the Class of 1980. Mr. Lewis married Maria Lewis (Nemecek) on September 29, 2009 in Montgomery City, MO, and have been together for over 20 wonderful years. He was employed as an operator by BMC Stone Quarry in Wright City, MO. Mr. Lewis was a very hard worker and enjoyed anything outdoors like hunting, fishing, camping, floating, traveling, and helping his wife build things. He loved spending time with his family and all of his friends. He was a very loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Maria Lewis (Nemecek) of rural Montgomery City, MO; daughter, Samantha Lewis and her mother, Sherry Lewis, both of St. Charles, MO; three step-children: Jennifer May and husband, Glenn, of Wellsville, MO; Whitney Nemecek and partner, Ella Mae Langhoff of Wellsville, MO; and Stephen Nemecek of Severn, Maryland; and one grandchild, Brendan May. Also surviving are his brother and sisters: Rick Lewis and wife, Geri, of St. Charles, MO; Linda Meyer of St. Charles, MO; Kathy Hundley and husband, Joe Dan, of Darby, Montana; and Kathy Sue Lewis of St. Charles, MO; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Olin Lewis and Emily Mae Knutson Lewis Evans.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Knights of Columbus Building in Montgomery City, MO. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Knights of Columbus Building in Montgomery City, MO.
