Ruth Virginia Dobbs, 84, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Monday, August 15, 2016, at the St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.

Ruth Virginia Dobbs was born June 25, 1932 in Corso, MO, to Frank J. Maddux and Anna Elizabeth Pottebaum Maddux. She married Delbert Leon "Del" Dobbs on May 29, 1949 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1986. Ruth worked for Beacon Shoe Company in Jonesburg for over 20 years and then was a waitress at Pizza Villa in Montgomery City, MO. Ruth attended the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church and also attended the First Baptist Church in Montgomery City, MO. She was always a very helpful, caring and kind person as she would take people to doctor appointments or where ever they needed to go. Ruth enjoyed working with her flowers, reading, and playing games and reading her emails on the computer. She loved spending time with her family and her friends.

Ruth is survived by five children: Carol Ann Skinner and husband, Randy, of Grangeville, Idaho; Darrell Dobbs and wife, Cherie, of St. Peters, MO; Della Maloy and husband, David, of Montgomery City, MO; Virginia Hill of New Florence; and Shelly Johnson and husband, Jeremy, of Redmond, WA. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren , great-grandchildren and recently her first great-great-grandchild; one brother, Don Maddux and wife, Roberta, of New Florence, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert Leon "Del" Dobbs; two daughters: Karen Dobbs and Sheryl Szabo; two sons: Larry Dobbs and Delbert Dobbs; two sisters: Anna Broz and Margaret Catherine Maddux; and one brother, Frank Maddux and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were held at Noon on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Ed Hankinson officiated and interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the Schlanker Funeral Home. Casketbearers included Steven Dobbs, David Dobbs, Adam Dobbs, Erin Johnson, Bob Aery and Raymond Aery.
