Russell Lee Burton, 69, of New Haven, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in a tragic accident.

Russell Lee Burton was born on June 27, 1952 in Warrenton, MO, to John W. Burton and Dolores Dell Huenefeld Burton.  He graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1970 and later graduated from Linn Tech.  Russell was married to Becky Jones and to this union two boys were born, Justin and Ryan.   Later Russell married Sherry Winford on August 8, 1997 in Sturgis, SD, and have been married for over 24 wonderful years.  He retired after 35 years as Superintendent of the Utility Department with the City of Montgomery. Russell was involved in many things over the years to name a few are was a Volunteer Fireman with the City of Montgomery; on the Montgomery County Fair Board; the Montgomery County R-II School Board, Coordinator Missour State Fair Tractor Pull was a member of the Chain Gang working all the football games; the George Lipscomb Toys for Tots; and Old Coots Motorcycle Repair.  He loved working and rebuilding old motorcycles and was really good at what he did.  Russell will be missed dearly by his family and many friends.

Russell is survived by his wife, Sherry Winford, Max (sidekick) of New Haven, MO; two sons: Justin Burton and wife, Carrie, of Kansas City, MO; and Ryan Burton and wife, Amy, of Warrenton, MO; grandchildren:  Marley, Lilly, Jade, Collin, and Christian; and great-grandson, Eden.  Also surviving is his sister, Debbie Leonard and husband, Gene, of Camdenton, MO; sister-in-law, Carey Nye and husband, Jeff, of New Haven, MO, Kenneth Winford and wife, Elizabeth of Pacific, MO; three Aunts, Vera Miller and Lillian Creel, Geraldine Estes; great friends: Chris Hudson, Arthur Purdy, and Kevin Hadfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Burton and Dolores Dell Huenefeld Burton.

Russell Burton will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at the New Florence Old Settlers Picnic Grounds on Saturday October 23rd from 12:00 to whenever.  Honorary Casketbearers include Justin Burton, Ryan Burton, Jon Leonard, Jeff Leonard, Chris Hudson, Kevin Hadfield, Arthur Purdy, Johnny Milster, Dorsey Stotler and many many more.
