Robert Eugene Shelton passed away peacefully at Boone Hospital September 20, 2023. He was the oldest son of Gardner and Ruby Shelton.

Bob graduated from Montgomery High School in 1953 and married the love of his life, Joyce Calhoun Shelton, on June 27, 1953. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this past June with over 150 friends and family. Bob worked for Niedergerke Truck Line for 27 years and then worked for ABF Truck Line for 8 years and retired in 1994. Bob loved to garden during his retirement and during that time had an ostrich farm. Too many ostrich stories to write about in that adventure of his life. After moving to Montgomery City Bob loved going to the Senior Center playing cards, delivering meals, and started the chicken dinners as a fundraiser. Bob and Joyce enjoyed Monday night poker every week and tournaments throughout. The last few years they played with friends at Dorsey and Susan Stotler's and looked forward to their invites.

Another joy for him was morning coffee at Hicks Store with his Bellflower friends talking about farming. He also stopped off at Eric Harness' for coffee and listen to the daily how the crops were doing or about the new equipment.

Bob lived his entire life in Montgomery County and participated in many organizations. He was president of the Mid-Mo Shriners, Montgomery Senior Center, Jaycees, Montgomery City Lions Club, and the Montgomery County Fair.

Bob was one of the first to be at the fair grounds in the 60's to bale hay and get the grounds prepared for the fair. He always enjoyed the fair.

Bob is survived by his wife Joyce, daughter Pam Mulverhill and grandson Bobby Caldwell. He is also survived by brothers Don (Joyce) of St. Charles, Missouri, and Tom (Linda) of Indiana and 11 nieces and nephews, as well as many loving friends.
