Robert George
Schroer, Jr
Apr 30, 1947 — Apr 5, 2026
Robert G. Schroer, JR, 78, of rural Montgomery County passed away peacefully on April 5th surrounded by his wife and daughter.
He was born on April 30, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Robert G. & Johanna Schroer. In 1970, he graduated with his Bachelors of Science from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. While there, Rob was a member of the Alpha Phi Gamma fraternity, where he fostered friendships with his fellow "Mokers" that lasted throughout his life.
On June 12, 1976, he married the love of his life Jan on the lawn of their first home together surrounded by their family and friends.
Rob's strong work ethic and honest character carried him through a diverse career. After college, he was employed by a dairy to test and verify products. Rob soon went into farming where he enjoyed raising pigs and then Angus cattle while working in insurance sales. Then, Rob went on to receive his certification as a real estate appraiser while continuing to raise Angus cattle on his beloved farm. He enjoyed a long, successful career as a real estate appraiser after fostering his own business until his retirement.
Rob's favorite memories and hobbies all surrounded his simple life on his beloved farm with his family and friends. From hunting and fishing to simply enjoying the nature, wildlife and overall beauty of his farm, as it was his absolute favorite place on Earth. He loved the view from the farm home that Rob and Jan built and lived together for over 25 years. Rob also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends over the years and greatly valued the memories surrounding those travel experiences. He also greatly supported travel experiences for his family when he wasn't feeling as adventuresome and always was so eager to hear all the details about those trips. In more recent years, Rob enjoyed spending time with his family and newer friends at their condominium at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Ultimately, Rob will be remembered for his kindness and generosity that he showed to all. He was blessed with many wonderful friendships throughout his life and was considered a good friend to many. Above all, his dedication to his family was most important and was always displayed.
Rob is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Jan Schroer; his daughter, Angie Cheves and son-in-law, James; and his cherished grandchildren Isabella and Jacob Cheves of Cabot, Arkansas.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Mount Horeb Cemetery in Montgomery City, Missouri.
Please be at the Schlanker Funeral Home at 11:00 AM to go in procession from the funeral home, past his beloved farm home for "one last ride" and on to the cemetery.
