Robert Raymond Merz, 76, of rural Montgomery City, MO, died at 11:56 AM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.
Robert Raymond Merz was born October 21, 1941 in Dardenne Prairie, MO, to Raymond Andrew Merz and Anastasia Hanley Merz. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and later married Patricia Ann Crain on January 15, 1966. Robert loved God, his Family, and God's green earth.
Mr. Merz is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Patricia Ann Crain Merz; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Stephen Merz and wife, Elizabeth; and their children: Lauren Merz; Jacob Merz and wife, Elizabeth and their children, Stella and Luke; Hannah Merz; Maria Merz; Catherine Merz Johnson and husband, Brendan; Andrew Merz, John Merz, Anthony Merz, Therese Merz, Benjamin Merz, Clare Merz, Joseph Merz, Cecilia Merz; and Rebecca Merz; Jean Carol Merz-Edwards and husband, Brian McFadden, and children Ethan Robert and Hanley Patrick; Ann Marie E. Merz and significant other, Warrick Wadman; and Michael Robert Merz and wife, Lisa, and their children: Dillon Plotts, Owen Michael Merz and Robert Michael Merz. Also surviving are his brother and sisters: Richard Merz, Margaret Rosalie Jacob, and Donna Burkemper; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mr. Merz was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Andrew Merz and Anastasia Hanley Merz; and Sister Elaine Craft.
A Funeral Mass was held at Noon on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Augustine Okoli and the Reverend Dan Merz officiated. Visitation was held on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service at the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment with full Military Honors was in the St. Mary's Cemetery near Montgomery City, MO.
