Robert (Rob) Edward Mahaney, Sr., 74, of Hallsville, Missouri, formerly of Montgomery City, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Rob was born on December 10, 1949, to Robert Wesley and Mary Elizabeth (Ganaway) Mahaney, in Montgomery City, Missouri. Rob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Rob served in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19, earning several medals during his time in the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal in 1971.

On October 16, 1971, Rob married Barbara Lee Berry, and together they shared 52 years of love and companionship while raising three children: Starla, Natonya, and Robert, Jr.

Rob dedicated several years of his life to working in manufacturing before retiring from Unique Automotive in 2015. Known for his resourcefulness, he could fix almost anything, with limited resources, often referring to himself as a jack of all trades but master of none.

In his free time, Rob enjoyed tinkering in his garage, working on cars, and indulging in his passions for fishing and hunting. He enjoyed singing and sitting outside in the sunshine. A true sports enthusiast, he was an avid fan of the LA Lakers, Mizzou Tigers, and the St. Louis Cardinals. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless laughter and cherished memories. Rob's legacy of love and devotion continues to resonate through the memories he created and the lives he touched.

Rob is survived by his wife, Barbara Mahaney, of the home; three children: Starla Berry of Centralia, Missouri, Natonya (Malcolm) Bragg of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Robert (Natalea) Mahaney, Jr. of Montgomery City, Missouri; grandchildren: Samyra (Daniel) Bragg-Evans of Independence, Missouri, Na-Keysha Berry of St. Louis, Missouri, Alaysha (Paul) Beckham of Centralia, Missouri, Tempest Bragg of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Keazha Berry of Hallsville, Missouri, Makai Bragg of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Luxuree Mahaney, Glory Mahaney, and Todd Jeremiah Mahaney, all of Hallsville, Missouri; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Wilbur Britt of Jefferson City, Missouri, Gilbert (Debbie) Mahaney of Kansas City, Missouri, James P. (Vanessa) Mahaney, Sr. of Holts Summit, Missouri, Leana Mahaney of Jefferson City, Missouri, Stephanie Mahaney of Jefferson City, Missouri; Sister in law Brenda( Donnell) Perkins of Vandalia Missouri, Brother in law Benard( Latanya) of Louisiana Missouri, Brother in law Roger Chatman of Vandalia Missouri and Brother in law James Starks of Phoenix Arizona, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Mahaney, and stepmother, Flora Mahaney, siblings: Blonnie (Oliver) Parker, Margaret (Kenneth) Wiser, Roberta Washington, Walter Mahaney, Vernice Britt, and Wanda Britt. Sister in laws Linda Gearldine Starks, Pamela Hammers, and Joyce Chatman and one brother in law Clifford Berry Jr.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri, with Reverend Rosemary Camp officiating. Interment will follow in the Montgomery City Cemetery.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Schlanker Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.
