Robert "Bob" Howard Meyer, 56, of Gamma, MO, died on Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.
Robert Howard Meyer was born October 3, 1960 in New Jersey to Howard Earl Meyer and Elizabeth Carstensen Meyer. Mr. Meyer received a degree in communications and was an engineer for the Defense Department of the United States. Mr. Meyer also was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He married Elizabeth A. Holmes on May 9, 1981 in St. Louis, MO, and together have been married over 35 wonderful years. Mr. Meyer was a Volunteer of the Arvada Fire Department of Arvada, CO. He was a great one to Volunteer for all great causes like MDA, Habitat for America, and he was an avid woodworker building all the furniture for his home, refinishing furniture and collecting antiques. Mr. Meyer never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone. He loved visiting with all his family and friends.
Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. Holmes Meyer of Gamma, MO; daughter, Christina Meyer; two grandchildren: Anton Robert Meyer and Alicia Ann Marie Meyer, all of Colorado; his Father, Howard Earl Meyer of Lake St. Louis, MO; and step-brother, David Hull of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Todd Holmes and wife, Elaine, of New Burn, NC; Gary David Holmes of Columbia, MO; Bill Holmes and wife, Karen, of O'Fallon, MO; Vickie Summerfield and husband, Morris, of St. Louis, MO; Rebecca Harris and husband, Fred, of St. Louis, MO; and Joe Jamieson of St. Peters, MO; his other family, the Arvada Fire Department; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his Mother, Elizabeth Jenkins Meyer; grandson, Christopher Jose Meyer; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Marianna Holmes; sister-in-law, Janet Marie Jamieson; and two nephews: James Holmes and Shane Burlage.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Interment was in the Bellflower Cemetery in Bellflower, MO. Visitation was held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Morris Summerfield, Joe Jamieson, Stewart Jamieson, Chris Holmes, Bill Holmes and Fred Harris.
