Robert J. Grimes, 68, of Montgomery City, passed away at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Schlanker Funeral Home. Burial followed in Montgomery City Cemetery.

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Robert was born Aug. 6, 1948 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Don and Betty Grimes. On Feb. 17, 2001 in Montgomery City, he married Carolyn E. Vaughn. She passed away on July 2, 2008.

Mr. Grimes was a truck driver.

Survivors include five children, Robert J. Grimes Jr. and partner, Kenneth Hesselton, of Mexico, Chris Grimes of Massachusetts, Jackie Grimes of Massachusetts, Amber Surls and husband, Steven, of Montgomery City, and Sammy Farrens and wife, Janet, of O'Fallon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Tommy Grimes of Massachusetts.

Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Grimes.
