Captain Robert Lee Brandkamp Jr. USA Ret., 81, of Montgomery City, died on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at St. Andrews of New Florence.
Robert Lee Brandkamp Jr. was born August 11, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Robert Brandkamp and Margeret Dennis Brandkamp. Robert graduated from high school in Kansas City, Missouri, and enlisted in the Army in 1956. He was married to the love of his life and lifelong companion, Shelby Jean Trower in 1957. Robert served as an Army Aviator in Vietnam and later served in the Army Reserve and MO Army National Guard. He retired in 1987 with 31 years of service.
Robert was a partner in Brandkamp Wookworking with his father, Robert Brandkamp Sr. and later with his son, Robert Brandkamp III. After the death of Robert Sr., Robert and his son formed Brandkamp Industries Inc. and he was active in the business until his illness and passing. He was very active in his hobbies with his family and enjoyed his antique cars and tractors and shooting and hunting.
Mr. Brandkamp is survived by his son, Robert Brandkamp III and daughter-in-law, Kathy Brandkamp, of Montgomery City; his granddaughter, Amanda Bowling, grandson-in-law, Curtis Bowling and great-granddaughter, Casey Jo Bowling, all of North Lewisburg, Ohio; a sister, Judy Reisch and brother-in-law, David Reisch, of Sanger, Texas; a brother, Dennis Brandkamp, and sister-in-law, Joanne Brandkamp, of Columbia; a sister-in-law, Alice Brandkamp of Columbia; a sister-in-law,Sandy Nation and brother-in-law, Donald Nation, of Wellsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Brandkamp; his mother and father, Robert Sr. and Margeret Brandkamp; his brothers, Michael and Charles Brandkamp; a sister-in-law, Kay Karrenbrock Brandkamp; and a nephew, Billy Brandkamp.
