Ray Gene Stewart, 81, of Kingdom City, MO, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at the University of MO Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Ray Gene Stewart was born September 2, 1937 in Portageville, MO, to Lloyd Stewart and Beulah Glover Stewart. He married Nancy Tate on March 17, 1956 and have been married for over 62 wonderful years. Mr. Stewart was successful at running many businesses including Airport Skelly, Rays Car and Truck Stop, Stewart Enterprise Car Dealer and many other business adventures. Mr. Stewart was a Shriner of the Masonic Triple Lodge #0835 in Granite City, IL, for over 42 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, boating, taking trips with his wife, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and visiting with all his family and friends.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Nancy Tate Stewart of Kingdom City, MO; four children: Audrey Frentzel and husband, Richard, of Big Spring, MO; Ray Stewart, Jr. of Wright City, MO; Jo Anna Stokes of Auxvasse, MO; and Rita Stewart and husband, Bob Brown, of Williamsburg, MO; seven grandchildren: Christen Carey, Jenny Slaughter, Seana Stewart and husband, Cliff Kuntz; Jayson Wilke, Katie Longstreet and husband, Benjamin, Blake Brown and wife, Melissa, and Jacob Brown; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters and brother: Nina Webster, Wilma VanLoo, and Bill Stewart and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd and Beulah Glover Stewart; son-in-law, John Stokes; and brothers: Lloyd Stewart and Billy Jo Stewart and sister, Betty LaVine.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 18, 2019, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO, with a Masonic Service at 1:00 PM. The Reverend Walter Lockhart officiated and interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Monday from 10:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Blake Brown, Jacob Brown, Billy Jo Stewart, Benjamin Longstreet, Cliff Kuntz, Bob Brown and Jayson Wilke.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO.
