Paul Joseph Hinton, Sr., 70, of Crawfordville, FL, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Monday, July 17, 2017, at his home in Crawfordville, FL.

Paul Joseph Hinton, Sr., was born on September 22, 1946 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky to Damon Hinton and Mary Agnes Coons Hinton. Mr. Hinton was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from September 22, 1966 until September 14, 1968. Mr. Hinton retired from working at Purina Mills in Montgomery City, MO, as a bulk unloader, mixer and operator. He married Sylvia Lee Burts on September 20, 1980. Mr. Hinton was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO; a member of the Knights of Columbus; and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being with his family and friends.

Mr. Hinton is survived by his wife, Sylvia Lee Burts Hinton of Crawfordville, Florida; his children: Vicki Deleta Thommen and husband, John; Alyce Marie Carpenter and husband, John; Sharon Kay Penn and husband, Tommy; Paula Scheeler; Paul "Pete" Hinton, Jr. and wife, Barbara; and Dalton August Joseph Brinegar; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Mary Clardy and husband, Melvin, of Montgomery City, MO, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Hinton was preceded in death by his parents; Damien and Mary Coon-Hinton, mother-in-law, Dorothy Delete Burts; and siblings: James Hinton, Johnny Hinton, Joseph Hinton, Louise Morgan, Helen McAdams, Josephine Board, Theresa McArthur and Peggy Russell.

Funeral services was held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Augustine Okoli officiated and interment with full Military Honors was in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home. Casketbearers included Sean Cunningham, David Ray Burts, Harrison Burts, Kenny McClure, Scotty Lewis and Brandon Marsh.  Honorary casketbearers included Nickolas Schmus, Brayden Schmus, Troy Jenks, and Ryan Cunningham.
