Patrick R. Killday, 81, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at his home.

Patrick Ronald Killday was born May 5, 1937 in Waseca, Minnesota to Glen Killday and Evelyn Lehmann Killday. He graduated in 1955 from Baring High School in Baring, MO and was a Veteran of the United State Marine Corp, serving from January 9, 1959 until January 8, 1963. Mr. Killday married Cheryl Ann "Sherrie" Klusmeyer on May 15, 1965 in Quincy, IL, and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2017. They were married 52 wonderful years. Mr. Killday was a utility electrician working 41 years for Ameren Electric. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, the Knights of Columbus, the R-II Athletic Booster Club, active volunteer of the Montgomery County Fair, for the Montgomery City municipality, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the IBEW Union.

Pat was dedicated to the Catholic Church, very committed to his faith, and the faith community to which he belonged. Pat was very fond of his paternal family Irish lineage and the shamrock was his badge of honor. Although raised on a family farm, "Kilowatt", as he was often called by his friends, worked his early years right after high school in the utility electric industry following in the footsteps of both his father and his uncle Rob Killday, as well as several cousins. In the Marine Corp he was in communications mainly as an electrician, and spent the rest of his career in Montgomery County as a lineman and service electrician until he retired in 2008. He loved baseball and basketball, especially the details of how to play those games. He was a lifelong fan of the St Louis Cardinals and the Missouri Tigers football and basketball teams. Pat was very committed to the community of Montgomery City and the surrounding areas, and was very fond of the people of the area. Truly, no better friend could be had. Pat was a lover of antique furniture, anything vintage from old homes, and enjoyed refinishing and restoring such items. There was always room after a hard day's work for a Stag beer or the wine he loved making with his dear friends. His greatest love was his family, and especially his wife Sherrie, and as a father he was always, always there for his two children and later grandchildren. Just as with weekly mass, he never missed a game or a function. He did however miss Sherrie dearly over the 20 months after she departed. Pat Killday lived a very productive, active, healthy, honest, and faith filled life up until passing away during one of his daily naps. The example he set is a lasting one for all that knew him and he most certainly will be missed.

Mr. Killday is survived by two children: Timothy Killday and wife, Dalene of Columbia, MO; and Ann Ramsey and husband, Shad, of Quincy, IL; five grandchildren: Jacob, Jackson and Makenzie Killday; and Addison and Cayden Ramsey; and one great-grandchild, Lainey Ramsey. Also surviving are brothers-in-law: Dan Bishop (Judy) of Baring, MO; Donald Klusmeyer (Judy) of Quincy, IL and Dick Klusmeyer (Jerri), of Mendon, IL; sisters-in-law: Karen Kiefer (Jim) of Quincy, IL; Judy McKinney (Jim), of Quincy, IL; and Diane Prunty of Olathe, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Killday was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Evelyn Killday; his wife, Cheryl Ann "Sherrie" Klusmeyer Killday; son, Shawn Michael Killday; two sisters: Judy Bishop and Romelle Eagan (Bill); and one brother, Norbert Killday (Kathy), brothers in-law Jim Kiefer and Kent Prunty, and sister in-law Judy Klusmeyer.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 14, 2019, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Monsignor Higley officiated and interment with full Military Honors was in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. A Celebration of Mr. Killday's life was held after the graveside service at the Knights of Columbus in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers will included the Knights of Columbus members and Honorary Casketbearers included Gene Eldringhoff, Dave Teeter, Doug Dowling, Roy Yager, Marvin Miller, Tom Riddle, Dick Arens and John Shelton.
