Oran Dale Hendricks, 86, of Montgomery City, MO, was called home on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the St. Mary's Hospital Audrain in Mexico, MO.

Dale was born on January 15, 1930 in Buell, MO, a son of Charles Lemon and Sylvia Jewel Davis Hendricks. He attended Buell School thru the 8th grade and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1947. Dale served his country in the United States Army beginning January 3, 1952 until December 5, 1953.

In June of 1958 he married Francis Means and to this union were born two daughters, Susan Leigh Hendricks Harmon and Jo Ellen Hendricks West both of Smyrna, Tennessee.

On March 6, 1976 in Montgomery City, MO, Dale married Jackie Baise Wolfmeier, sharing a love for hunting and fishing together for 40 years. Dale was a brave man. When he married Jackie she had five children of which two were grown and three still in the home with the youngest 10. He was a caring and encouraging father. Dale was good at giving advice and never demeaning. He loved us as if we were his own. As we all grew up he was there still giving advice, encouragement and guidance.

Dale was a kind and generous soul. He gave to others not expecting much in return. He ran Dale's Mobile Gas for many years, later working for Arens Gas until 2000 when he retired. He ran a bow shop for several years until it closed. He was an avid bowler playing on a team for years. He also helped with starting the Lions Club and was a charter member. Dale was active in the lions club up until 2012 when he decided it was time for the younger members to take over. Dale could always be found helping with BBQ's when the Lions had their stands. Dale was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Humanitarian Award. Dale also worked with Missouri Conservation with checking in deer and other services to the conservation.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He and Jackie could always be found together either fishing or hunting. He never really had a favorite species he liked to hunt, because he loved it all. The fish always grew bigger and bigger as he told his stories of his adventures.

In later years he would put out a garden and loved his tomatoes and strawberries. He also had fruit trees and would get mad when the birds ate the fruit before he could pick it.

Dale enjoyed watching all sports especially baseball. He was an advent reader and read most anything he got his hands on. He enjoyed raising Beagles and training them for hunting. He also raised bird dogs.

Dale is survived by his wife, Jackie, of the home; children: Tempie Adams and husband, Gary, of Fulton, MO; Vickie Bates and husband, Keith of Auxvasse, MO; Bobby Wolfmeier and Billy Wolfmeier of Montgomery City, MO; Doris Moore and husband, Jeff, of Wellsville, MO; Susan Harmon and husband, Tom and Jo Ellen West, all of Smyrna, TN. Also surviving are his brother, Leo Hendricks and wife, Joyce and sister-in-law, Peggy Gardner and husband, Don, all of Montgomery City, MO. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dale will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dean and Deward Hendricks, and one sister, Fern Anson.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend David Knight officiated and interment with full Military Honors was in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, north of Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 1 pm until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Stan Carroz, Gene Whyte, Kris Rudd, Kelby Moore, Jeff Moore, and Jimmy Craven. Honorary casketbearers included Zach Hicks, Lester Simmons and Gary Adams.
