Michael Lee Scarlet, 70, of rural New Florence, MO, died on Friday, October 9, 2020, at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Michael Lee Scarlet was born on July 16, 1950, in St. Louis County, MO, to Franklin Silvie Scarlet and Ella Mae Jones. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving several tours from 1967 until 1970. Michael married Terri Ann Uebinger on August 5, 1972 in St. Charles, MO, and have been married for over 48 wonderful years. Michael helped raise his grandson's Robert and Caleb, he even had the honor of becoming "Pops" to his great grandson Ryder. These boys were such gifts to him. Michael was a member of the Ducks Unlimited, the NRA, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Throughout the years Michael was also a hunting mentor to numerous loved ones and friends. He was one of the best and his presence around the "Neighborhood" will be sorely missed. He loved spending time with all his family and many friends.
Mr. Scarlet is survived by his wife, Terri Ann Uebinger Scarlet of rural New Florence, MO; one daughter, Michele Lee Ridenour and husband, Jason, of Montgomery City, MO; grandchildren: Robert Michael Scarlet of Montgomery City, MO; Caleb Dwayne Forbis of Montgomery City, MO; Jason Ridenour and Julia Ridenour of San Antonio, Texas; and six great-grandchildren: Damien, Danny, Darek, David, Ryder, and Maddilynn. Also surviving are his siblings: Bob L. Scarlet and wife, Ann, of Montgomery City, MO; Sandra Ponzar and husband, Kurt, of St. Charles, MO; Tina Orick and husband, Dave, of New Florence, MO; and Jimmy Scarlet of Gasconade County, MO; sister-in-law, Brenda Scarlet of Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Scarlet was preceded in death by his parents: Franklin Silvie and Ella Mae Jones Scarlet; one brother, John Scarlet; and many other loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Jim Cline will officiate and full Military Honors will be done by the Wellsville VFW Post and the Missouri Military Honors Marine Corp at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Honorary Casketbeaers include Jason Ridenour, Robert Scarlet, Caleb Forbis, Chris Scarlet, Jasen Pearson, and Chad Viola.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warriors, the Montgomery VFW, or to the Disabled American Veterans, c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.
