Melvin Davis, 71, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the SSM/St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO.

Melvin Marion Davis was born November 1, 1946 in Paragould, Arkansas to Marion and Lorene (Myers) Davis. He graduated from Monette High School in Monette, Arkansas in 1964 and then attended Arkansas State University and St. Charles Community College. Melvin married Constance Pinger on October 6, 2001 in Dardenne Prairie, MO and have been married over sixteen wonderful years.

Melvin was a union carpenter and worked as a Concrete Foundation Foreman for McBride Homes for 38 years. He retired in 2005 and fulfilled his dream of owning a cattle ranch. Melvin was a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery City, MO and his religious life was extremely important to him. He met his wife while leading a singles class at his church and he went on several mission trips to Mexico and Haiti. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working on his cattle ranch, exercising, rock climbing, photography, biking, traveling, camping, gardening, dancing, and listening to music. Melvin also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Constance of Montgomery City, MO; his children: Alana Beauchamp and husband, William, of Troy, MO; Stefanie Doyle of St. Louis, MO; Ryan "RC" Dalton and wife, Carolyn, of St. Charles, MO; Christopher Dalton of New York City, NY; and Gregory Dalton of Taos, New Mexico. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Jacob Beauchamp and wife, Lauren of Troy, MO; Zachary Beauchamp of Troy, MO; Matthew Beauchamp and fiancée, Emily of Jefferson City, MO; Joshua Beauchamp and wife, Kelsi of Louisiana, MO; Emmett Dalton of St. Charles, MO; Evelyn Dalton of St. Charles, MO; and Eleanor Dalton of St. Charles, MO; great-granddaughter, Rebekah Beauchamp of Troy, MO; and great-grandson on the way Malachi Beauchamp. Surviving also are his brothers and sisters: Calvin Davis of Dowagiac, MI; Jerry Davis, Frances Evalene Bowman, Danny Davis and wife, Judy, Allen Davis and wife, Karen, Jack Davis and wife, Rhonda, and Myron Davis and wife, Mary, all of Paragould, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Lorene; his ex-wife Mary (Gibson); his sisters: Elsie Mathers and Rachel Formon, and his brother-in-law Paul Bowman.

Funeral services were held at Noon on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Dr. Jim Guffie officiated and interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
