Melba Lee Riley Adams, 80, of New Florence, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Friday, January 31, 2020, at SSM St. Joseph West Hospital at Lake St. Louis, MO.

Melba Lee Adams was born May 7, 1939 in St. Charles, MO, to Irving Richard and Ocie LaRue Riley. She married Hank Bowles and together they had one daughter, Carrie Lynn Bradshaw of Granite City, IL. On December 13, 1975 she married David Eugene Adams in Montgomery City, MO, he preceded her in death on March 28, 2008. Mrs. Adams was a great homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She had also worked as a waitress and factory work. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Elderberries, enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, playing cards with friends and family, and participating with her husband, Dave, in the Bellflower Community Club, and making chore lists for her children. She loved to visit with her family and her friends and will be missed dearly.

Mrs. Adams was a loving mother to her children: Carrie Lynn Bradshaw and husband, Mark, of Granite City, IL; Deborah Lynn Gambert and husband, John, of Fairfax, VA; Sharon Ann Condray of Montgomery City, MO; Patricia Susan Leonard and husband, Wayne, of Montgomery City, MO; Richard Lawrence Adams and wife, Gayle, of Montgomery City, MO; Marsha Cope and husband, Roy, of Truxton, MO; Matthew Adams and wife, Patricia of Truxton, MO; Brent Adams and wife, Michelle of Waynesville, MO; and Angela Adams Vance of Fishers, Indiana. She was a wonderful grandmother to her twenty-four grandchildren: Lauren and Steven Gambert; Julie, Wendy and Whitney Smart, Ariel Condray, Frank, Luke and Dominick D'Imperio, Lori Swick, Joshua Sikes, Zac and Zane Adams, Jennifer Seals, Alan Cope, Rick Angie and Michael Tucker, Sarah Bennet, Amy Knulhoff, Austen Schoenborn, Aysia Adams, Cody and Peyton Leonard, and Graham Vance; and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Frieda Schneider of Wright City, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, Irving Richard and Ocie LaRue Riley; her husband, David Eugene Adams, granddaughter, Jessica Smart; one brother, Kenneth Riley and two sisters: Bonnie Harold and Vivian Schrader.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Rev. Dave Robinson officiated and interment was in the Bellflower Cemetery in Bellflower, MO. Visitation was held on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers include dJoshua Sikes, Zac Adams, Zane Adams, Alan Cope, Michael Tucker, Graham Vance and Austen Schoenborn.
