Mazie LaRue Nichols, 87, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away at her daughter Wanda's residence in Montgomery City, Missouri on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

Mazie Nichols was born December 21, 1933, daughter of George Thomas Moore and Victoria Forrine Stotler, at their home in Bellflower, Missouri. She graduated from the Bellflower High School, a member of the final class to be held there. On July 21, 1955 she married the love of her life, Robert Jewel Nichols, in Mexico, Missouri. Together they had five children: Thomas, Terry, Robert, Sherry, and Wanda. Robert preceded Mazie in death on August 14, 2006. Mrs. Nichols worked as a nurse's aide for 26 years at the New Florence Nursing Home. In her spare time, aside from being a caretaker for her large family, she read when she could, listened to bluegrass music, and watched westerns and her soap operas. She spent a great deal of time outdoors, tending a garden, enjoying horses and camping. Mrs. Nichols would ride around, whether it be on a golf cart or in a car, taking in the sights around her. But there was nothing that Mazie loved more than spending time with her family and loved ones. She was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother in her years.

Mazie is survived by her five children: Thomas (Mitzi) Nichols of Buell, MO; Terry Nichols of Buell, MO; Robert (Tracy) Nichols of Warrenton, MO; Sherry Moose (Jim Bote) of Montgomery City, MO; and Wanda (Steve) Young of Montgomery City, MO; 13 grandchildren: Zachary (Monica) Nichols, Tyler (Abbey) Nichols, Jacob (Melissa) Nichols, Justina (Kenny) Lindsey, Brent (Katie) Nichols, Brandon (Kalyn) Nichols, Bridget (Adam) Rodgers, Kaitlyn (Dustin) Eichholz, Faith (Jordan) Eickhorst, Heather Kelling, Trenton Moose, Jennifer (Kevin) McKim, and Jamie (Ian) Chisholm; 33 great-grandchildren; three siblings: Dean Robinett, Ronnie Moore, and Vicki Johston; and brother-in-law Roger Riney.

Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jewel Nichols; her parents, George Thomas Moore and Victoria Forrine Stotler; sisters, Joyce Sudbrock and Linda Riney; son-in-law, Steve Moose; and a child she cared for as her own, Melvin.

Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 21, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, Missouri. Zachary Nichols will officiate the service. Jamie Chisholm providing the eulogy. Casketbearers include Tyler Nichols, Brent Nichols, Brandon Nichols, Bryson Nichols, Trenton Moose, and Dalton Kelling.
