Maxine Marie Carr, 92, of Rural Montgomery City, MO, died on Monday, June 8, 2020, at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville, MO.
Maxine Marie Carr was born September 12, 1927 in Montgomery County, MO, to Roy See and Zelma Moore See. She graduated from Montgomery City High School and married George Alvin Carr on March 21, 1951. They were married for over 48 years until Mr. Carr preceded her in death on March 12, 2000. Maxine had worked for Beacon Shoe Factory in Jonesburg, MO; had worked at the Montgomery City Bakery; and retired from being a School Bus Driver for Montgomery County for many years. Maxine was a lifetime member of the Montgomery VFW Post and of the ladies auxiliary; a member of the ladies auxiliary for the Montgomery Rural Volunteer Fire Department; enjoyed cross stitch and working puzzle books. She loved spending time with her family and her many friends.
Mrs. Carr is survived by four children: Brenda Gillispie and husband, Bernie, of Moberly, MO; Larry Poston of Montgomery City, MO; Connie Smothers and husband, Roy, of Moberly, MO; and George Carr and wife, Brittaney, of Springfield, MO; eight grandchildren: Allen Gillispie (Meagan); Wayne Gillispie; Marsha Butyenek (Mike); Ryan Poston (Vonnie); Kaley Reagan (Stan); Jeremy Smothers (Tori); Jerod Smothers (Kelly); and Jim Smothers and (Kellie); fourteen great-grandchildren and many friends.
Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Zelma Moore See; and her husband, George Alvin Carr.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Mr. Stanley Carroz officiated and interment was in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, north of Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Friday from Noon until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Wayne and Allen Gillispie, Ryan Poston, Jeremy and Jerod Smothers, and Mike Butyenek. Honorary casketbearers included Jerry Schwartz and Gary Dyke. The general public is welcome to attend the service while following social distancing guidelines. Please stay six feet apart and avoid close contact. Anyone in attendance is asked to wear a mask or other person protective equipment.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Montgomery VFW, and Helen Reagan Cancer Fund, c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.
