Maurice Clem Schipper, 84, of Wellsville, MO, died on Saturday, June 04, 2016, at his home surrounded by family.
Maurice Clem Schipper was born in Gilmore, MO, to Alois Schipper and Freida Hemmer Schipper. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. He was married to Bertha Marie Purler Bradley on April 23, 1952 in Old Monroe, MO and to this union four children were born. On October 17, 1991 in Wellsville, MO, he married Betty Jo Miller. Mr. Schipper worked for O'Fallon Gas – Phillips 66 for 15 years and was also a farmer. Mr. Schipper was a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Wellsville, MO; was a former member of the Montgomery County Fair Board; and was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. He enjoyed raising rabbits, chickens, goats, and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Schipper loved to visit with all his family and his many friends.
Mr. Schipper is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Miller Schipper of Wellsville, MO; four children: Robert Schipper and wife, Susan, of New Florence, MO; Mary Thomas of Mexico, MO; David Schipper of Hannibal, MO; and Linda Parrish of Mexico, MO; three step-children: Allen Robinson and wife, Stephanie, of Chilicothe, MO; Eddie Robinson and wife, Tammy, of Wellsville, MO; and Chris Robinson and wife, Marcia of Jefferson City, MO. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Brent Schipper, Cody Schipper, Mandy Orr, Shelly Erwin, Jaclyn Schipper, Jarrett Schipper, Angela Reeder, Tony Bryan, Andrew Harvit, and Kaitlyn Parrish; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Roettger of Wentzville, MO; brother, Marty Schipper and wife, Joan, of Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Schipper of Josephville, MO; and Faye Schipper of Silex, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Schipper was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Gina Schipper; one sister, Mary Schipper; and two brothers: Charlie Schipper and Harold Schipper.
A funeral mass was held at 11:30 AM on Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Resurrection Catholic Church in Wellsville, MO. Reverend Joe Abah officiated and interment with full military honors was in the Resurrection Cemetery in Wellsville, MO. Visitation was held on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Robert Schipper, Mary Thomas, David Schipper, Linda Parrish; Tony Bryan, Brent Schipper and Cody Schipper. Honorary casketbearers included John L. Wortman, Tony Wortman, and Jarrod Wortman.
