Marvin Sylvester Mahaney, 72, of Mexico, MO, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at his home.
Marvin was born on September 6, 1945 in Montgomery City, MO to Grover and Lucille (Jennings) Mahaney. Born and raised in Montgomery City, he attended elementary, middle school, and high school there. He attended St. Paul CME Church in Mexico, MO.
In 1972, he married Loretta May Clark. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather. Marvin worked throughout the Montgomery City and Mexico areas. Family was everything to him. He adored his children and grandchildren immensely. With the birth of each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. They were his world and his everything. Marvin enjoyed playing cards with his sisters on special occasions as well as going to the casino. His most favorite thing to do was to just sit quietly and peacefully while listening to the blues.
He was a dedicated father and grandfather. His survivors include one son, Marvin Mahaney, Jr. (Dawn) of Mexico, three daughters: Charlene (Scott Long), Monica (James Huddler), and Tammy Broadus of Mexico; grandchildren include Bianca Rodenbaugh, Rajnay Curtis, Jamar Huddler, Taveon Mahaney, and Myron Mahaney; four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; three sisters: Darlene Allen (Topeka, KS), Elizabeth Mahaney (Topeka, KS), and Ruby Mae Harvey (Jefferson City, MO) and paternal brothers.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; James Mahaney, Ernest Mahaney, and Roy Richards.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Scott Long will officiate and interment will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
