Marilyn Phyllis Fleetwood 87, died, May 4, 2026, at her home in Montgomery City, Missouri.

Mrs. Fleetwood was born October 24, 1938 at Walker, MO, the daughter of Harvey Benton McCrory and Edna Newland McCrory. She lived on a farm near Columbia, MO from 1943 to 1968 and has resided in Montgomery City for the past 58 years.

On January 27, 1961, she married J. Ross Fleetwood, Jr., DVM, who preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Chauncey Edwin Fleetwood and wife, Marilyn, of Boston, MA and Stephen Ross Fleetwood of Kansas City, MO.

Other survivors are granddaughters, Stephanie and Lillian Fleetwood of Shawnee, KS, step-granddaughter Amy Niedzwiecki, two step great grandsons, Adam and Silas and several nieces and nephews. A brother and sister-in-law, Knox and Nelda Rohr McCrory and sister, Marie McCrory Cook preceded her in death.

Mrs. Fleetwood grew up on a farm near Columbia and attended Midway Elementary School which was a one room country school house. She was a 1956 graduate of Hickman High School and received BS and MS degrees from the University of MO From 1960-1966, she was employed as a Dietitian at the University of MO Residence Halls Food Service. From 1966-1968 she was a Graduate Assistant teaching Quantity Food Production at University Hospital. From 1968 to 1980 she assisted her husband with his veterinary practice. She was a Registered, Licensed Dietitian and from 1980-2015 worked in area nursing homes and hospitals. She, also, worked in several counties in Public Health offices as a Nutritionist with the WIC (Women, Infant and Children) program.

Professional organizations included a 50+year membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and MO Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

From 1977-1986 she served on the Montgomery County R-II Board of Education and was President from 1979-1986.
