Marie Antoinette Atterberry (Grieshaber), 85, of Montgomery City, MO, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at her home, surrounded by family.

Marie was born in St. Louis on April 20, 1936 to Mary Irene and William Grieshaber.  She was born into a large family as one of eight children and grew up on a farm in New Florence where she also attended school.

Marie learned to be a wonderful cook as she spent many years cooking and managing kitchen staff in local restaurants while raising her family.  Before she retired, Marie enjoyed serving her community by working as a receptionist and office assistant at the local NECAC office for 20 years.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, she also enjoyed playing bingo.  Due to her love of community, she looked forward each year to hosting a watch party, in her front yard, for the Montgomery County Fair Parade, for family and friends.

Marie is survived by four of her six children: Patti Magruder of Cape Girardeau, MO; Dennis Atterberry of Montgomery City, MO; Kathy Morrow of Oklahoma City, OK, and Cindee Tacker and husband, Bill of Montgomery City, MO.  She is also survived by two brothers Dan Grieshaber and wife, Dorothy, of Dearborn, MI and Alex Grieshaber and wife, Genelda, of Hermann. MO.

She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren:  Holly Atterberry, Kari Atterberry, Tony Vincent and wife, Tracy, Michelle Dawson and husband, Corey, Billy Atterberry, Josh Atterberry, Paula Sewell, Veronica McCurdy, Frank Sewell, and Ashlee Clark and husband, Aaron.

She was also a great-grandmother to an amazing twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren due this summer.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, William Grieshaber, Mary Irene Grieshaber Gentry; step-father, Paul Gentry; two of her children, Thomas Atterberry and Sheryl Atterberry, two brothers, Oliver Grieshaber and Frank Grieshaber, three sisters, Vicki Hillebrand, Elaine Childress and Lorraine Brower, by one great-granddaughter, Ciara and a great-great-grandson, Hunter.

The family requests social distancing and masks to be observed.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the Schlanker Funeral Home on Saturday, February 19, 2022.  A Memorial Service will follow on Saturday at 11:30 AM at the Schlanker Funeral Home with Alex Grieshaber officiating and inurnment will be in the New Florence Cemetery in New Florence, MO.

In lieu of flowers suggested memorials may be made to the Montgomery County Senior Center or to the New Florence Cemetery c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO   63361.
