Margaret Delores Hadfield, 88, of New Florence, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.
Margaret Delores McCann Hadfield was born on November 19, 1928, in East St. Louis, IL, to Roger Ray McCann and Emma Willis Flynt McCann. She graduated from Collinsville High School and later married Charles Leo Hadfield on November 26, 1949 in Collinsville, IL, and have been married for over 67 wonderful years. Together they owned and operated Montgomery Locker from 1963 until 1977. Mrs. Hadfield was a member of the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church; the Chancel Choir; the United Methodist Women's Club; Nimble Thimbles Quilters; Piece Makers Club and her Knitting Club. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and enjoyed anything with crafts or sewing. She loved spending time with all her family and friends.
Mrs. Hadfield is survived by her husband, Charles Leo Hadfield of New Florence, MO; children: Terry Hadfield of Montgomery City, MO; Peggy Johnson and husband, David, of Montgomery City, MO; Jeff Hadfield and wife, Janet, of Torrance, CA; Karen Hadfield of Montgomery City, MO; Kevin Hadfield and wife, Nina, of Montgomery City, MO; and David Hadfield and wife, Kate, of Columbia, MO; grandchildren: Rachel Angel and husband, Dan; Shawna Hadfield; Julie Holtgrave and husband, Craig; Josh Johnson and wife, Sara; Missy Herring and husband, Zack; Christopher Ham; Jennifer Kampeter; Stacey Hadfield; Christopher Hadfield; Timothy Hadfield; Lauren Hadfield, Sara Paige Hadfield; Shannon Smith and wife, Cheri; Caleb Smith and wife, Linda; and Bradley Cannell; great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Logan, Johnathan, Jacob, Gavin, Cora, Anna, Carl, Tyler, Amber, Nickolas, Blake, Ayla, Keegen, Drake and Cade; also surviving is one brother, Don McCann and wife, Barb, of Caseyville, IL; and sister-in-law, Judy McCann, of Collinsville, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Hadfield was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Emma McCann; son, Dennis Hadfield in 1993; sisters: Joyce Tucker and husband, Max; and Mary Warner and husband, Rolland; and two brothers, Roger McCann and Robert McCann.
Memorial services were held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the First United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, MO. Services were led by granddaughter, Julie Holtgrave and Reverend Ed Hankinson. The family received friends on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Honorary casketbearers included Josh Johnson, Christopher Ham, Timothy Hadfield, Bradley Cannell, Shannon Smith and Christopher Hadfield.
