Louis Neal Wiss, 91, of Laddonia, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his home.
Louis was born on June 24, 1932, to Louis Joseph and Fannie (Bolton) Wiss. He married Janet Ray Boone on June 5, 1954, in Warrenton, Missouri. Janet and Louis spent 69 loving years together, one month away from celebrating their 70-year anniversary.
He worked as a truck driver for many years and attended the First Baptist Church in Laddonia, Missouri. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and if he wasn't watching the baseball game, he was usually watching The Young and the Restless or catching up on The Price is Right. Louis was a hard worker and he loved his family. He loved to play with his grandkids and shared many fond memories of camping and fishing with his children over the years. He also enjoyed mowing, playing cards, especially pinochle, going to music jams at the Montgomery County Senior Center, and watching tractor pulls.
Mr. Wiss is survived by his wife, Janet Wiss, of the home; children: Michael (Julie) Wiss of Laddonia, Missouri, Shirley (Kevin) Welch of Laddonia, Missouri, Dan (Amy) Wiss of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren: Travis Wiss of Granite City, Illinois, Matt (Samantha) Wiss of Louisiana, Missouri, Katie Wiss of Colorado, Austin (Jessica) Welch of Montgomery City, Missouri, Nick Welch of Laddonia, Missouri, Tyler Wiss and Macey Wiss, both of Canton, Georgia, Dannielle MacDuff of Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Myrna Wiss, of Warrenton, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Joseph and Fannie Wiss; a daughter, Debra Wiss; a grandson, Joseph Louis Welch; niece and nephew, Norma Jean Wiss and Leslie "Butch" Wiss; and his siblings: Leslie Wiss and wife, Maxine, Calvin Wiss and wife, Bernice, Carol Wiss, Donald Wiss and wife, Genieva, David Wiss, Dolly Dothage and husband, Elger, and an infant sister.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri, With Pastor Chris Atkinson and Chaplain Mark Burkey officiating the services. Interment will follow at Hugo Cemetery in New Florence, Missouri. Casketbearers are his grandchildren: Travis, Matt, Macey, and Tyler Wiss, and Austin and Nick Welch.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Schlanker Funeral Home.
