Karyn Lynne Bybee, 69, of Jonesburg, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died on Friday, March 11, 2016, at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, MO.
Karyn was born in St. Louis, MO, on May 14, 1946. She was a daughter of the late Norvel (Thom) William Gansner and Ruth Edna Harrington Gansner. She was married in St. Louis, MO, on October 9, 1965, to George Phillip Bybee. George preceded Karyn in death on June 8, 1995.
Karyn cared deeply for all people. She expressed her love for family and friends without reserve; she also had a large place in her heart for everyone. It is often said of Karyn "that she never met a stranger." She had her own way of connecting with others and a special gift of comforting those in need. Karyn was an advocate for the innocent and those who could not protect themselves…including children and animals. She demonstrated her kindness and capabilities in many capacities during her time in public service to her community. Throughout her career Karyn proudly served with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department; the Montgomery County Ambulance District; and the County Communication Center. She later served as a private security officer. She will be greatly missed by many.
Karyn is survived by three children: Jeff P. Bybee of New Florence, MO; Kelly K. Widner and husband, Greg, of Montgomery City, MO; and Michael (Mickey) Bybee and wife Umaree (Ree) of Warrenton, MO. Karyn is survived by four grandchildren: Joseph (Joey) Widner of Kansas City, MO; John Widner of Warrenton, MO; Alissa (Lizzy) Bybee and Madison Bybee, both of Warrenton, MO. Other survivors include one brother and one sister: Cheryl Lockos and husband, Tallis; and Thom Gansner and wife, Melinda, all of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are four nieces and nephews: Nicole Clark, Tallis (John) Lockos, Kyle Lockos, and Clayton Gansner, all of St. Louis, MO.
Karyn was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, George; by a son, Jay Wesley Bybee; by a brother, Barrett (Barry) Gansner and a beloved cousin, Archie C. (Joey) Brice.
Memorial services were held at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The family received friends from Noon until the time of the service at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Mr. David Dowling and Mr. John Mazanec officiated.
