June Lillian Specht Brown, 86, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the St. Andrews New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.
June Lillian Brown was born and raised in Bronx, NY on June 16, 1932 to Charles W. Specht and Helen Sigler Specht. She graduated from high school and attended college for two years. Ms. Brown lived in Bronx, NY from 1932 to 1966 and then moved to Yonkers, NY and lived there from 1966 to 1979. She then moved briefly to California, then Miami, Florida and back to upstate New York until August 1983. In 1983 she moved to Montgomery City, Missouri. Ms. Brown worked for Andrus Children's Home in Yonkers, New York and at the Immaculate Conception School Daycare in Montgomery City and kept active caring for children for many families. Ms. Brown enjoyed crocheting, and working with plants and flowers. She attended the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church and Reach Church, enjoyed going to the Montgomery County Senior Center, and visiting with her many friends.
Ms. Brown is survived by her brothers and sisters: Jeanette Miller and husband, Steve, of Evansville, IN; Donna Adkison, of Evansville, IN; Theodore Specht and wife, Paula, of Newburgh, IN; and Carl Specht of Vacaville, CA. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. Specht and Helen Sigler Specht Auffurth; brother, Charles R. Specht; brother-in-law, Lee Adkinson.
Memorial services were Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Ed Hankinson officiated.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Montgomery County Senior Center; the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church; or to Reach Church; c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.
