Judith "Judy" Fay Roop, 80, of Bellflower, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Wellsville Nursing Home.

She was born on September 11, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Wilson Burns and Fay (Martin) Burns. On September 27, 1964, she married Franklin Paul Roop in St. James, and together they shared 61 years of devoted marriage, remaining inseparable throughout their lives.

Judy had a deep love for horses and spent many happy years caring for and enjoying them alongside her husband. She also cherished time spent camping and looked forward to their annual summer vacations. Together, Judy and Franklin traveled all across the United States, collecting memories—and rocks—from each place they visited.

One of their most remarkable adventures was hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, a journey that took 10.5 hours and stood as a testament to their determination and the strength they found in each other.

Judy enjoyed quilting with her mother, creating pieces that reflected both her creativity and her love of family. She also found joy in music, especially listening to Elvis Presley.

Judy will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her deep love for her husband and family, and the simple joys she found in life's moments.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Franklin Roop, of the home; one son, Paul Edward Roop of Jefferson City, Missouri; one grandchild; siblings-in-law: Dale Dotson and David Vaughn Roop, both of Bellflower, Missouri; and nieces and nephews: Janeen Orlet, Brad Carwile, Kimberly Dotson, Aric Dotson, Becky Roop, and David Roop.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Fay Burns, siblings, Shirley Carwile and Dennis Burns, and siblings-in-law, Earline Hughes and Richard Roop.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the funeral home.
