Joan Hess Weeks, 86, of High Hill, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at St. Andrews in New Florence surrounded by family.
Joan was born on January 30, 1938, at their home in High Hill, Missouri. She was the daughter of Rolla Charles and Emma Theresa (Monnig) Quanty. After graduating high school, she married Floyd C. Weeks in Biloxi, Mississippi, on July 14, 1957. They were married for over 62 wonderful years before his passing on January 29, 2020. Joan worked at the Beacon Shoe Factory for a number of years. She was a longtime member of St. John's United Church of Christ in High Hill and enjoyed serving her church. She was also a member of the High Hill Helpers, the High Hill Town Board Treasurer, and was a Lady Lioness. She loved to care for her flowers and watch the birds. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She cherished her grandchildren, always spoiling them and cheering them on as their biggest fan. She also enjoyed hosting and preparing for family dinners. Joan was happiest when surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Weeks is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Patty" (Gregory) Belew of Jonesburg, Missouri; son-in-law, Daryl (Nancy) Cobb of Montgomery City, Missouri; two granddaughters: Jessica (Jennifer Krattli) Cobb of Montgomery City, Missouri, and April (Matthew) Taylor of Denver, Colorado; one great-granddaughter, Olivia; three sisters: Jean Ellis, twin sister, Helen Schroer, and Geraldine Ell; siblings-in-law: Mary Weeks and Ronnie (Alice) Weeks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Rolla and Emma Quanty, her loving husband, Floyd Weeks, her daughter, Tammy Cobb, grandson, Allan Cobb, and several other siblings.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 12:00 PM at St. John's United Church of Christ in High Hill, Missouri, with the Reverend Don Deeker officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in High Hill, Missouri. Casketbearers include Keith Ell, Daryl Cobb, Greg Belew, Matt Taylor, Jacob Hans, and Tatum Wessel. Honorary casketbearers include Randa Thomas, Barbara Hughes, Leslie King, Lori Avery, Kenley Wessel, and Robert Linke.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at St. John's United Church of Christ from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
