Jimmie "Jim" Lee Stokes, 74, of O'Fallon, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died at SSM St. Joseph West Hospital at Lake St. Louis, MO.

Jimmie Lee Stokes was born September 11, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, to Dwight Stokes and Syble Browning Stokes.  He attended St. Clair High School in St. Clair, MO.  Jim married Deborah Heller on August 10, 1965 in Potosi, MO, and were married over 56 wonderful years.  He retired from Binkley SAF Holland in Warrenton, MO, after working 40 years and later retired from the City of Montgomery as a City Inspector.  Jim was a member of the Bellflower Fire Department, a Montgomery City Alderman, the Mayor of Bellflower, a member of the American Legion, and also a member of the Morning Star Church.  Jim loved to give people hugs, enjoyed woodworking, reading, taking naps, and doing anything with his family and friends.

Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife, Deborah Heller Stokes of O'Fallon, MO; daughter, Cheryl Stokes Zarhouni of Montgomery City, MO; granddaughter, Natassia Stokes of Montgomery City, MO; and great-grandchildren:  Serenity Stokes and Jeriah Stokes, both of Montgomery City, MO.  Also surviving is his brother, Warren Stokes and wife, Linda, of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Joyce Drennen and husband, Ed, of Owensville, MO; brothers-in-law, Scott Heller and Greg Heller, both of Union, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Syble Browning Stokes; daughter, Cynthia Stokes; and sister, Donna Adams.

Memorial services with full Military Honors will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.  The Reverend Keith Janis will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.  Honorary casketbearers include Greg Heller, Scott Heller, Jeriah Stokes, Serenity Stokes, Mike Spirz, Ted Hicks, Michael Hartnett, and Jon Laubert.
