Jessie Ray Spencer, 43, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 2, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Jessie was born on September 9, 1982, in Columbia, Missouri, to his mother, Dorothy "Dotty" Burch. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work and perseverance.

In 2008, Jessie entered the United States Army, where he served his country with honor. He was deployed to Iraq during the Iraq War and served as a heavy equipment operator. Throughout his military service, he earned numerous medals and ribbons in recognition of his dedication and service. Jessie carried deep pride in his time in the Army.

Outside of work and service, Jessie found peace in the outdoors. Fishing was his happy place—a time when he could slow down, reflect, and enjoy the quiet beauty of nature. He loved being outside and felt most at home near the water.

Jessie loved his family dearly and remained deeply connected to those he cared about. He lived a life marked by hardship and faced many battles with resilience and strength. Despite the challenges he endured, he continued to move forward with determination and heart.

Jessie Ray Spencer will be remembered for his service to his country, his skilled hands, his love of the outdoors, and the deep love he held for his family. His memory will live on in the lives he touched.

Jessie is survived by his mother and stepfather, Dotty (Gene) Burch of Montgomery City, MO; children: Dylan Spencer and Tanner Spencer of Dexter, MO, and Phoenix Spencer and Falcon Hodge of O'Fallon, MO; his sister, Tauna Spencer of Montgomery City, MO; stepsiblings: Travis Spencer of Columbia, MO, Teresa Burch of Fredericktown, MO, Scott Burch of West Alton, MO, Chris (Amanda) Burch of Montgomery City, MO; wife, Janet Spencer of Montgomery City, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his baby, Daven Spencer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Montgomery City Church of the Nazarene. Owen Dameron is an honorary casketbearer. Inurnment will follow in the Montgomery City Cemetery.

A luncheon will follow services at the Montgomery County Senior Center.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
