Kay Lewis (83) of Montgomery City passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Andrew's Nursing Home, New Florence.

Kay was born January 12, 1942, the youngest daughter to James and Hazel (Duckworth) Butner.

Kay was the mother of two boys, Harold and Michael.

She had a servant's heart and likely cooked or served food to you if you ever had a meal at Grandpa's Kitchen in Wellsville or The Lantern, Polly's or BP in Montgomery City.  She finished her career at BP (Hoffman Oil) after 24 years, as the night shift manager.

Kay earned her GED after attending school at Montgomery County R-II.

She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved animals; especially her cat-Boo and granddogs Sally and Laney.  Kay enjoyed reading, monthly lunches with former classmates and time spent with family and friends.

Kay previously attended New Florence Baptist Church and enjoyed helping with Kidz Night.

Survivors include one son, Michael (Linda) of Montgomery City, one brother, Pete (Mary) Butner of New Florence, sister-in-law Jane Butner of Dardenne Prairie, Grandchildren: Brian Lewis, Kim Fleetwood, Katie Lewis, Josh Lewis and Justin Lewis, several great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.

Kay was preceded in death by her son, Harold, three siblings, Evelyn Worley, Betty Zimmerman, JD Butner and sister-in-law June Butner.

Visitation is Friday, April 18 at Schlanker Funeral Home, Montgomery City from noon to 2:00 PM with the funeral immediately following.
