James E. Prior, Sr., 90, of New Florence, MO, died on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the St. Andrews New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.

James Edward Prior was born May 28, 1927 in New Florence, MO, to Samuel Edward Prior and Hazel Marie Jones Prior. He married Anna Elizabeth Talbot on August 8, 1971. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2008. Mr. Prior worked at Wyatt's Electric in Montgomery City, MO for over 34 years until he retired. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, working on steam engine motors, and visiting with all his family and friends.

Mr. Prior is survived by his children: Lonnie Prior, Janet May Burts, Delores Jean Horn, James Edward Prior, Jr., Karen Sue Zumsteg, Annita Young, John Russell Prior, Rebecca Jane Arens, Lloyd Eugene Prior, Samuel James Prior, Connie Carmichael, David Stoneberger, and Ronnie Stoneberger. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Whitehead, Irene Folta, and Sharon Janke; brother, George Prior, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Prior was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Anna Elizabeth Talbot Prior; two brothers: Charles and Bill Prior; Sister, Margaret Boyer, and daughter, Janette Prior.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. His brother, George Prior and niece, Brochelle Sherman officiated and interment was in the New Florence Cemetery in New Florence, MO. Visitation was held on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Darryl Salazar, Harold Strait, Will Burke, Dylan Horn, Josh Zumsteg, Damien Dixon and Seth Prior. Honorary casketbearers included Scott Prior, Todd Zumsteg, Dustin Krull and Judy Prior.
