Henrietta B. Palmer, 90, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville, MO.

Henrietta Biggs Mathis Palmer was born October 19, 1926 in Steward County, Bear Springs, TN, to John Randolph Mathis and Amelia Ann Beasley Mathis. She graduated from Granite City Illinois High School in 1945 and within a week was working at Granite City Engineering Depot and also at Royer and Rogers who suppled parts for the Depot and then the office moved to St. Louis, MO. She finally worked ten years at Aetna Insurance Company doing Clerical work. On August 22, 1970 she married George Michael "Mike" Palmer, Jr. Together they worked hard on their livestock and grain farm just outside of Montgomery City, MO. Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Montgomery City Christian Church and was very active in the church, also working Thursdays at the Clothes Closet. She was an avid Bowler and still bowled on a league at 84 years of age. Mrs. Palmer enjoyed watching the MU Tigers whether it was basketball or football and loved visiting with all her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mrs. Palmer is survived her children: Connie Barnett and husband, Terri "Barney", of St. Louis, MO; Alan Cox of Lee Summit, MO; Larry Cox of St. Louis, MO; Julie Brandenburg and husband, Bob, of Montgomery City, MO; and George Palmer III of Montgomery City, MO. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kenny Gibson, Jr.; David Gibson; Steven Gibson; Tyler Cox; Austin Cox; Jeremy Cox and wife, Jennie; Jamie Hemeyer and husband, Todd; Jennifer Rae Brandenburg, Steven Brandenburg and wife, Jacki; Courtney Kinder; Brittney Eoff; and Garrett Day; great-grandchildren: Ruby Cox, Mason Hemeyer and Kara Hemeyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Michael "Mike" Palmer, Jr., daughter–in-law, Jada Palmer; brothers: Melvin Mathis and John Mathis, and sisters: Madge Selph, Mary Dickson and Martha Dixon.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Montgomery City Christian Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Gary Bailey officiated and interment was be in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, North of Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Wednesday at the Montgomery City Christian Church in Montgomery City, MO.
Casketbearers included Steve Brandenburg, David Gibson, Steven Gibson, Laban Haynie, Garrett Day, Jeremy Cox, and Mason Hemeyer. Honorary casketbearers included Austin Cox and Tyler Cox.
