Harry "Buddy" McCafferty, 71, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in New Florence, Missouri.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 6 ^th , 2023, from 10:00a.m – 12:00p.m at Schlanker Funeral Home with funeral services at 12:00p.m. followed by interment at New Florence City Cemetery. Thomas Murphy will be officiating the service.

Harry was born on October 7, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry and Norma (Newberry) McCafferty.

Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He married his wife Gail on November 22, 1974 and they spent 48 loving years together. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and then worked as a post man for the USPS. He was a volunteer firefighter and first responder, and later, secretary for the fire board for New Florence. Harry was an avid outdoors man and took great pride in his garden. Despite battling many health issues over the last 23 years, he remained in good spirits. He knew no stranger and adored his family, making fond memories fishing, swimming, watching wrestling, and spending countless hours being a "Brownie Dad". Harry will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and a baby brother.

He is survived by his wife, three children, Keith (Angela) McCafferty, Shannon (Kevin) Bufka, and Morgan McCafferty; five brothers, Dennis McCafferty, Joe (Patty) McCafferty, Johnny (Gail) McCafferty, Darrell McCafferty, and Ricky (Kathy) McCafferty; seven sisters, Sharron Kiderlen, Patti Hohensee, Barbara McCafferty, Susie McCafferty, Marilyn Crider, Cheryl Oxsalida, and Dorothy Johnson; seven grandchildren, Austin McCafferty, Mykenzie Bessolo, Hunter Starks, Dalton Christy, Emma Hodge, Kennedy Bufka, and Angela Hill; and one great-granddaughter, Lily Hill; along with numerous extended friends and family.
