Harold Hunter, Jr., 89 of Montgomery City, MO, died on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at SSM/Audrain Hospital in Mexico, MO.

Harold Hunter, Jr. was born May 18, 1928 in Jacksonville, IL, to Harold Hunter, Sr. and Katharine Wetzel Hunter. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, IL, in 1946 and attended Illinois College for a short time after the service. Mr. Hunter was a Veteran of the United States Marines serving from 1946 until 1948. He married Joan Foster on June 15, 1950 and have been married for over 67 wonderful years. Together they worked hard on their livestock farm. Mr. Hunter also was a union carpenter from 1964 until 1983 and worked at the Fulton State Hospital until 1992. Mr. Hunter will be greatly missed by all his family and his friends.

Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Joan Foster Hunter of rural Montgomery City, MO; three children: Janet Hunter Polson and husband, Barry, of Livonia, MO; Harry W. Hunter and wife, Mary Louise, of Alexander, IL; and Bill Hunter and wife, Kristy, of Montgomery City, MO; Grandchildren: Lucas Polson and wife, Erin, of Montgomery City, MO; Joellyn Polson of Livonia, MO; Matthew Hunter of Alexander, IL; April Hunter Gibson and husband, Daramiah, of O'Fallon, MO; Joshua Hunter of Montgomery City, MO; Cody Hunter of Montgomery City, MO; and Morgan Hunter of Montgomery City, MO; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Susan Sweetnam of Plano, TX; and Lucy Boyle and husband, David Boyle, of San Angelo, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Hunter, Sr. and Katharine Wetzel Hunter; and one sister, Katharine Black.

Mr. Hunter was cremated and there will not be any services at this time. Mr. Hunter's ashes will be interred at the Antioch Cemetery in Alexander, IL.
