G eorgia Marie "Porgie" Logan Powell, 91, of rural Montgomery City, MO, died on September 3, 2020, at her home in rural Montgomery City surrounded by family.

Georgia Marie Logan Powell was born January 13, 1929, in Foristell, MO, to John Christopher Logan and Martha Regina Kimmich Logan. After graduating high school she attended college at Warrensburg. She taught school for two years at the Crabapple and Whiteside schools and married Eugene Morris Powell on April 29, 1949, in Montgomery City, MO. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2002. Eugene and Georgia lived most of their married lives on the farm where Eugene had lived since he was four years old, she moved there in 1956. Together they farmed and worked hard until their health started to decline, but she also worked for the National Garment Company for 15 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, a member of the Montgomery Co. American Cancer Society, and also served as Chairperson for the Helen Reagan Cancer Fund. Porgie (as she liked to be called) took great pride in her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a hard worker and a great friend to many, she will be dearly missed.

Georgia is survived by her seven children: Johnnie Powell and wife, Donna; Jami Powell and Sylvia Aldena; Cheryl Stein and husband, Bob; Esther Sprehe and husband, Ron; Tommie Powell and wife, Bonnie; Ronnie Powell and wife, Jackie; and Phillip Powell and wife, Emily; fourteen grandchildren: Jody, Jimmer, Cristopher, Douglas, Timothy, Corey, Gretchen, Sarah, Elizabeth, Chad, Chandi, Christine, Katie, and Molly; thirteen great-grandchildren: Derek, Dustin, Dakota, Micheal, Emma, Halee, Alexis, Silas, Addison, Skyler, Caleb, Alva, and Jackson; and five great-great-grandchildren: Carson, Aubrie, Jalynn, Gunner, and Dustin. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Mildred Ellis and husband, Kermit; brother-in-law, Jack Brotemarkle; niece, Joy Meeuwig; son-in-law, Jack Herschbach; and numerous nieces and nephews. We cannot forget her cat, Snizzle.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, John Christopher Logan and Martha Regina Kimmich Logan; husband, Eugene Morris Powell; grandson, Dustin Powell; two sisters: Edna Landrum and husband, Harold and Ruth Grosse and husband, Adolph; an infant brother; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Daisy Ward and husband, Jake, Alva Powell and wife, Mae, David Powell and wife, Dorothy, Raymond Powell and wife, Vera, Dorothy King and husband, Ed, Ernest Powell and wife, Mary, Herbert Oetting, Charles Powell, Robert Powell, Martha Powell, Pauline Powell, and Mary Ann Brotemarkle; and half sister-in-law, Lucille Davis.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at the New Florence Cemetery in New Florence, MO. Visitation will be held at the Cemetery on Sunday from 1:30 PM until the time of service. Reverend Ed Hankinson will officiate.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Casketbearers will be Jim Powell, Doug Morris, Corey Powell, Chris Herschbach, Timothy Herschbach and Chad Powell.  Honorary Casketbearers are all her Grandchildren.
