Gary William Dyke, 68, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Gary was born on August 10, 1956, in Mexico, Missouri, to John William Dyke and Dorothy (Langford) Dyke. He was their only child. He grew up in Montgomery County, graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1975, and went on to study welding at Linn Technical College. He worked hard his entire life, holding a few different jobs over the years, but spent the most time at Wheaton Industries, where he put his welding skills to good use. He was also a Firefighter in Montgomery County for several years.

Gary lived on the same farm since 1977 and never wanted to be anywhere else. Montgomery County was home — his roots ran deep. The only time he ever left was when there was a boat hitched to the back of his truck. He loved fishing more than just about anything, and he was happiest out on the water or in the woods. Hunting and fishing weren't just hobbies to Gary — they were a way of life. He was a proud member of the Loutre Valley Bass Club and often volunteered locally. One of his favorite volunteer activities was taking kids, of all ages, to local lakes to go fishing once a year with the Bass Club.

He was a true outdoorsman, a hard worker, and a farmer through and through. He raised sheep, cared for the land, and loved being in a tractor. He had a deep love for animals, especially his dog, Roxy, who was always by his side. Truth be told, he liked animals better than most people.

Gary had a quiet strength and a good heart. He was surrounded by many close friends who meant the world to him, and who made sure he was never alone. He gave as much love as he received, in his own way.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his two sons: Ronnie (Sarah) Saulnier of Warrenton, Missouri, Greg (Veronica) Saulnier of Mexico, Missouri; their mother, Bonita "Bonnie" Jones; grandchildren: Larissa Saulnier, Ronin Saulnier, Zoie Saulnier, Rebecca Schemmer, and Katelyn Joyce, all of Missouri; one great-grandson, Kingston Shields; and his cousin, Mick Buchanan, of Saint Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Dorothy Dyke, and his grandparents, Joseph and Gladys Langford, and John William and Lorene Dyke.

Per Gary's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services at this time.
