Frieda Darleta Sterling, 80, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at St. Andrews Nursing Home in New Florence, Missouri.

Frieda was born on February 3, 1944, to Walter and Pauline (West) Stadler. She attended Bellflower Elementary School and Montgomery R-II High School, graduating in 1962. On June 17, 1962, she married Jim Fry and the couple resided in New Florence, Missouri. They had three children: Randall James, Robyn Renee, and Melissa Annette.

She and Jim divorced and she and the children moved to Montgomery City, Missouri. She worked for several years at Polly's Diner, which was owned by her mother. She later married Bob James. She and Bob eventually divorced and she later married Ned Sterling.

Through the years Frieda held many jobs, including Gamma Road Nursing Home, Jockey, Walmart, and as a vet assistant. She was an accomplished steamstress, making many clothes for her daughters and nieces and doing custom sewing for people. She was a true dog lover and always had a pampered four-legged companion.

Frieda is survived by her children: Randy Fry and partner Greg Allswede, Robyn Malnicof, and Melissa Bethel and husband Noah; her grandchildren: Brittany Spruytte, Tiffany Russell and husband JJ, and Chloe, Sydney, Noah, and Grace Bethel; and her two great-grandchildren: Hudson Spruytte and JT Russell. She is also survived by her sisters, Floy Oliver and husband Will and Fran Cullom, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri.

Visitation will be held prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral. Burial will follow at Bellflower Cemetery.

Serving as casketbearers will be Randy Fry, Greg Allswede, Noah Bethel, Will Oliver, Justin Cullom, and Isaac Oden.
