Frances Bernadette Cunningham Whyte, 96, of New Florence, MO, formerly of Montgomery City, MO, died Monday, January 16, 2017, at the New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.

Frances Bernadette Whyte was born on February 11, 1920, in Montgomery County, MO, to Patrick Henry Cunningham and Mary Kerwin Cunningham. She married Marvin Austin "Pete" Whyte on May 24, 1939 in Mexico, MO and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1990. They were married over 50 years and had many happy times together. Mrs. Whyte was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO and enjoyed gardening and canning her vegetables. She loved spending time with all her family and friends.

Mrs. Whyte is survived by two children: Mary Viola Engelbrecht of Bellflower, MO; and Thomas Patrick Whyte and wife, Betty, of Montgomery City, MO; daughters-in-law: Angie Whyte of Montgomery City, MO and Pat Whyte of Murphy, North Carolina; grandchildren: Randy Whyte and wife, Sandy; Craig Whyte; Bradley Whyte and wife, Lynn; Kelli Kelly and husband, Carl; Karen Engelbrecht and fiancé, Clinton; Morgan Chan and husband, Shelby; and Miranda Barrett and husband, Andy; great-grandchildren: Austin Kelly and wife, Meredith; Lauren Kelly, Josh Whyte, Jessica Whyte Fischer and husband, Chris; Nathan Hollensteiner; and Olivia Chan; and one great-great-grandson, Payton Hollensteiner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mrs. Whyte was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Mary Cunningham; husband, Marvin Austin "Pete" Whyte; two sons: James Whyte and John A. Whyte; son-in-law, Stanley Engelbrecht; grandsons: Mark Whyte and Pat Hollensteiner; and brothers: Patrick Cunningham, J. D. Cunningham, Thomas Cunningham, George Cunningham, Jefferson Cunningham and Joseph Cunningham; and sisters: Helen Marie, Regina Ann, and JoAnn.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Msgr. Gregory Higley officiated and interment was in the St. Mary's Cemetery, west of Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Casketbearers included Randy Whyte, Bradley Whyte, Josh Whyte, Austin Kelly, Clint Cunningham, Craig Whyte, Carl Kelly, and Peter Cunningham.
