Fontell Morton Logan, 90, of Wellsville, MO, died on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Golden Living Center/Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville, MO, where she resided for her last couple of years.

Fontell Logan was born on May 31, 1926 in Danville, MO, to the parents of Lucinda Baker and Ellis O. Morton.

Ms. Logan is survived by four children: Sherwin Lynn Logan, of Columbia, MO, and wife, Debra, of Kewanee, IL; Bonita Marcia Hyler and husband, Bill, of Columbia, MO; Erwin Flynn Logan and wife, Deloris, of Quincy, IL; and Donnie Roy Logan and wife, Michelle, of Columbia, MO; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Thomas of Montgomery City, MO; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Fontell was a member of the Harpers Chapel Methodist Church, which is now known as Harper's Chapel Everybody's Church.

She was a member for several years and she always partook in many of the programs that the church had. She always had a beautiful voice speaking and reading short poems or readings that she had found that was appropriate for the ceremony that was going on and whatever was brought for her to do. She took part in raising money to help rebuild Harpers Chapel Methodist Church and organizing dinners and other fund raisers for the church.

Fontell graduated high school at and attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, taking several college classes to be able to become a teacher. She taught school in Lincoln Park, Montgomery City and down in Southeast Missouri. Then worked at Bobby Brooks in Vandalia, MO, Ben Franklin Store in Montgomery City and then at the Montgomery City Library, where she finally retired.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, playing the organ and piano, crocheting, yard work, flowers, eating fish, and baking (her specialty was pineapple upside down cake).

Fontell entered a lot of hearts, with her love, kindness and wisdom.

Ms. Logan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie Logan; brother, Lonnell Morton (her twin); and step-son, Carl Thomas.

Visitation was held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Harpers Chapel Everybody's Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Harpers Chapel Everybody's Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Doctor Ayanna L. Shivers officiated and interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Casketbearers included Erwin Logan, Sherwin Logan, Malik Edwards, Anthony Dunlap, Porter Peoples, and Roger Chatham. Honorary Casketbearers included Donnie Logan and Demetrius Edwards.
