Edwin Carl McCormack, 89, of New Florence, MO, died on Saturday, March 05, 2016, at the New Florence Care Center in New Florence, MO.

Edwin Carl "Pistol" McCormack was born July 24, 1926 in Mineola, MO, to Arthur Edwin McCormack and Viola Bell Wilson McCormack. He attended rural schools in the Mineola area and then attended Montgomery City High School. Mr. McCormack was a veteran of World War II. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served until 1946. He went to basic training in Idaho and then served on the USS Colorado. Mr. McCormack married Wilma Jean Dority on December 24, 1947 in the state of Arkansas. They lived their married lives in the Mineola area. She preceded him in death on February 3, 2009.

Mr. McCormack is survived by six children: Barbara Heppermann and husband, Ed, of Mineola, MO; Brenda Davenport and husband, Fred, of Mexico, MO; Bonnie Smith and husband, Tom, of Montgomery City, MO; Ed McCormack and wife, Cathy of Montgomery City, MO; Beverly Dixon and husband, Bill, of New Florence, MO; and Thomas McCormack and wife, Ann, of Jefferson City, MO. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Ruth McCormack of Fulton, MO; one brother-in-law, Jim Craven of rural Montgomery City, and many friends.

Mr. McCormack was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Edwin and Viola Bell Wilson McCormack; his wife, Wilma Jean Dority McCormack, and by brothers and sisters: William T. McCormack, Gene McCormack, Martha Porterfield, and Ruby Fry.

Mr. McCormack worked as a welder at Ford Motor, Binkley Corporation and later at A. P. Green Company. He loved the outdoors. He always had a love of baseball. He played baseball in his youth and as an adult with several area "town teams." He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and was able to attend a game in St. Louis this past summer.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Reverend Brian Larkin officiated and interment with full military honors was held in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held on Monday from Noon until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers included Justin and Jon McCormack, Chad Francois, Billy Dixon, Jacob, Garrett, and Josh McCormack and Scott Davenport.
